Excerpt of email from work:
(highlight the space below to see text - for some reason anything that I copied from work email is "blanked out" - yet another example of something sinister at work)
Last Thursday evening a sound attenuation system was installed... This is being used to reduce the noise from the refurbishment on the ground floor and, when it is open, the new restaurant. The system generates steady white noise (akin to the sound of the sea without the waves), it is tuned to counteract specific frequencies. It will be tuned in further very gently over a period of weeks to mask specific frequencies.
It just freaks me out that they have a system in place that actually blocks out construction noises such that you can't. hear. them. (No, seriously, you can't hear anything inside the building even though large scale construction is being carried out on different floors.)
Somehow, I cannot help but think that they are doing some sinister psychological experiment on us, like sending out secret subliminal messages and controlling our brains or something...
