the narrator

I am only a little melancholic, a little bit sick of the world, but isn’t everyone like this?

If you feel that I am unfamiliar in a crowd, do not be surprised, that is not the real me

I am still the person you know from before.

Obloquy.
Ob-luh-kwee.

'censure, blame, or abusive language aimed at a person or thing,
esp. by numerous persons or by the general public
'

Interesting what you learn from studying contracts.
More interesting when you are sitting in front of the computer attempting to interest people in an obscure word that frankly, no one (except perhaps the most archaic) will ever put into everyday use. Yes, that is a dare. I dare YOU.
Most interesting if someone takes up my dare.

That's right, obloquy. I get the spelling right - everytime.

XXXXXXXXX
So my mind is wandering - what else is new?
This time though, there is an excuse. Four hours of North and South, four hours of Harry Potter, four hours of sleep, four hours of study. What's a sharpie? Surely not a marker pen? !

There is a certain elegance in cold logic, in the methodical chronological sequencing of thoughts and events. A sort of purity with which only the best minds are blessed. Everything is simple, certain, less awkward. Not science, mind you - there is no elegance in scientific fact - but music, mathematics, poetry. Hercule Poirot in the Agatha Christies. At times seemingly random and out of place, but always, always the pieces fit together. A perfect jigzaw puzzle.

Mine is not such a mind.
Laugh, will you? You probably already know.

XXXXXXXX
Easy to lapse into whimsical reverie.
You probably had enough.
Cease and desist? But why should I stop for you?

When one day rolls on to the next there is an inevitable sense of lost time - like fluttering plastic bags in the wind. We look on fascinated, and yet not without lingering doubt - perhaps we should do something about it? Pick them up. Or something.

In the end someone always does (they'd have to, otherwise the world will be smothered with pastic bags), and you sigh. 'That could have been me. Ah well, I always did have the intention.'

Another plastic bag flutters by.

We do nothing.
